Greetings
from Cairo.
Members of
WIAMH, Cairo Chapter, were indeed most fortunate to meet Professor Dr,
Chaudhry. Dr. Chaudhry: the distinguished pioneer Muslim psychiatrist and one of the founding
fathers of WIAMH was in Cairo late April 2000 to act as an external
examiner in the Diploma of Psychiatry and Neurology at Ain Shams
University, department of Psychiatry. It Was a delight for all of us to
see him and talk to him during a Meeting and dinner hosted by Professor Omar
Shaheen. The Meeting was also attended by Dr. Ahmed Abou El Azayem; WFMH
president, Dr. Mohammed Farouk El Sendiony WIAMH, Secretary and Dr.
Mustafa Omar Shaheen. During the meeting the future of WIAMH was discussed.
It was agreed to use the Information Superhighway to promote the status
of WIAMH and to enhance its communication with International
organizations. It was recommended to maximize the use of Internet in the communication
of WIAMH and its members. Therefore, members of WIAMH are kindly requested to provide the
Secretariat of WIAMH with their e-mails. Professor Chaudhry was the first to
comply with this request after his safe arrival to Pakistan. Meeting
also discussed future venues for WIAMH annual and biennial meetings.
Finally, the meeting commemorated Dr. Gamal Abou El Azayem and his
outstanding achievements in the field of Islamic psychiatry. Dr. Chaudhry led the
meeting in reading the Fatiha on his blessed soul.
DR. BADAHDAH’S SUCCESSFUL RECRUITMENT OF
PROMINENT YEMENI COLLEAGUES TO WIAMH
For a long time
WIAMH didn’t have a single Yemeni member.
Not anymore.
Thanks to Dr. Badahdah’s dedication for the cause of WIAMH. He was very
successful in recruiting 32 prominent Yemeni colleagues to join WIAMH.
This will surely enrich WIAMH and will make it more representative of
the Muslim World.
Dr. Badahdah has
always been a financial supporter and fund raiser for WIAMH. He is also an
active participant in all annual and biennial WIAMH conferences.
NEXT WIAMH
ANNUAL MEETING? The Secretariat General of WIAMH received an invitation from Dr.
Badahdah and Yemeni colleagues to hold the next annual meeting in Aden,
South of Yemen. Dr. Badahdah was too kind to promise financial support for
this congress. WIAMH members are kindly urged to express their views
with regard to this invitation. Please send your suggestions concerning
topics to be discussed in this congress. One topic, which is timely:
