 Dear Colleagues,

 

       The coming event is a combined training session and a congress to be held in Narni Italy 9-15 June 2003.

 

       It is organized by the World Islamic Association for Mental Health in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Tans-Cultural Psychiatry and the World Psychiatric Association – TP section and the University of Missouri, Columbia, Department of Psychiatry. The training course as well as the congress will mirror increasing awareness of the importance of cultural factors, especially as they affect decisions about diagnosis and treatment. The central theme will be “Islam and Mental Health” with special emphasis on the Islamic Approach to treatment, management of people who have been exposed to continuous Traumatization. Trainees will come from Palestine (if they successfully manage to get out of Palestine) .

       The attached file has a tentative schedule of the major events.

       We regret that we will not be able to give financial assistance to colleagues to attend this event but the registration fee is waived so participants are expected to pay for their air tickets and accommodation. You and your colleagues are most welcome to participate so please disseminate this information among your colleagues. 

       Please advise me at your earliest convenience of the would-be participants from your end so that I can advise you of the names of hotels for hotel reservations and give your names to Italian authorities for the issuing of a Visa.
